A Bahro links in near the fountain
and heads off to the DISCO. Moments later more start
linking in. They stop at a dozen and they all head down
to the DISCO. One by one they nod to Grizz and head down
to the sub levels. One more links in a little late
and follows the others. He stops in front of Grizz and
hands him a note.
To Grizz of the
DISCO, These Bahro are in my employ and have come to
fix the problem with the space/time anomaly in your sub
levels. Not sure how, but they said they could manage
it. No charge on this one as it'll be nice to find
what I need without having to drop down 40
floors....

The Bahro then heads up
to Dr. Thietris' office and glares at the door. He
shakes his shaggy head at it and dropping his bulging
pack he removes the new one that Bizzy just
installed. Then moving incredibly fast he rushes down
to the DISCO, passing the fancy Veronica and Grizz, and
down to the sub levels. Rushing back up he skewers a
note and payment for a few items without stopping. He
screeches to a halt at the office doorway and in two
minutes has a new door installed. He waits for the
button to light up then gives it a push. Theres a faint
noise and the door shudders but fails to open. He pulls
out an oil can and squirts the edges then gives the
button another push. It slides open with a screech. He
pushes it again and it closes. A few more times and it
opens and closes almost silently. He shuffles in and
leaves a note on the desk then links out.
Dr.
Thietris, Sent Kieth over for the door. Will owe him.
He works on favors. Never excepts cash payment for
anything. I'm sure, knowing him, he'll find something
you can do for him to return the favor for the
door.
Veronica is still waiting for some
reaction from Grizz. "Well? Too formal? Oh no matter,
come on let's go!" She grabbed Grizz by the arm and then
realized she had no idea where the Age and Country Hotel
is located. "Lead the way...erm...did you want to change
your clothes first?" She looks rather harshly at the hat
on his head.

Instead of answering,Grizz offers
Veronica his arm. She hesitates a moment, then taking
it, she walks up the stairs with him, where he see
Cordelia.
"Just excuse me one little moment,
Veronica," he says. "Just gotta have one word with Cordy
'bout a letter I got today."
He leaves Veronica
by the fountain and crosses to Cordelia who is outside
the Prof.'s door.
"I'm showing Veronica how to
get to the A&C Hotel for a little relaxin this
evening. Wearin' that git-up to the A&C will be a
real learnin' experience for her I think. Drop in there
later if you get the chance."
Grizz goes back
to Veronica, and they leave so he can show her how to
find the A&C
Hotel.

When Bizzy finally stopped drooling, he put his tools
away and walked back up to Professor T's office to give
the new doors a try. He was astonished to see what some
vandal had already done.
That had been the only set of garage doors DISCO
had in stock. Luckily, the little gnome had another
idea. Back to DISCO, then back to bizzyness. Soon the
doors were working again.
Kieth links back in and walks over to
the office for the pack he had forgotten and stops quite
suddenly. He glares at the new doors then looks
around. He spots the little gnome bizzily putting his
tools away and stalks over...
Ten minutes later
the doors are back to normal, Kieth and his pack are
gone and the little gnome is bizzily trying to remove
the Atomic Wedgie given to him by the severely annoyed
Bahro...
In his office, RW impatiently looked
at his watch. He felt frozen in time. It would be
several hours at least before he would be free to link
back to the ExP1 neighborhood.
There was the
urgency to speak with Prof. Thietris. A new urgency
sparked by the lab analysis. But, he had to admit, that
was not the only reason he was anxious to return, and it
did not all have to do with reports, business and
science. Although, there certainly was an element of
investigation to it.
Thinking about Professor
Thietris's Personal Assistant Cordelia wasn't going to
help him get his work done, and he pushed the thought of
her out of his mind. Well, he tried
anyway.
*meanwhile boatingirl was wandering
around the store* Oh dang! they left *writes a note*
Grizz, got the boots and the light, will pick up the
rest tomorrow. Let me know what I owe, OK? *she tries to
open the door and finds it locked* Shoot they must have
closed up while I was downstairs! oh well, Iwas going
back to my relto anyway...*links out*
On the other side of the world, the
Stranger finished a busy day exploring the underground
world of Coober Pedy. In his hotel room, also
underground, he thought that one more day would give him
all the information he needed. He downloaded all the
pictures he had on his digital camera to his laptop.
Then he examined them, one or two getting much more of
his attention than the others. He sat thoughtfully,
remembering another place at another time, and wondering
at the incongruencies and the similarities of the two.
He wrote for a time using the keyboard. Then he saved
the file, and went to bed,
yawning.

Elkae has had enough coffee for now (did
she say that????). She gives up on meeting with Thietris
today so she walks down the stairs and through the pond
looking for Polly.
"Polly?! Pol-leeeeee? Here
girl!" Not getting any response, Elkae walks on up the
stairs to Heek, Inc., and tries the door. Locked. Seeing
the Institution is deserted, she decides to link back to
Relto and curl up with Slacker and her
journal.

Professor T returns to his office and
smiles with satisfaction to find that his door is back
to normal. (Thank goodness he didn't come across either
of the alternative versions.)
"What's this note?
Well, a big thank you to Kieth - Whoever he might
be."
Professor T is becoming a little concerned
at the general lack of application being demonstrated in
the Institution. The general attitude seemed rather too
casual for a prestigious research establishment. Why,
he'd even heard someone whistling as he'd been
walking along the passageway. And where was all the
research work? He'd invited discussion of Boatingirl's
research results, but who had responded? No one. There
was going to have to be a tightening up. Yes
indeed.
There's a slight shift in the hood.
The air pressure drops and a hum starts. The noise gets
louder and pulsates through the walls and floors. The
door to the DISCO starts to warp and bulge outward.
There's a high pitched wail now as the bulging spreads
along the walls and ground. The sound becomes barely
recognizable as a long, drawn out link in
process.
Suddenly there's a screech and the
bulging pulses out through the entire hood then just as
suddenly snaps back into the DISCO.
Everything is
quiet again. Five minutes later theres a rattle as
someone tries to open the DISCO door from the inside.
There's a pause, some whispered discussion from inside,
then a key being turned in the lock. The door opens and
a dozen Bahro march out carrying a bunch of orange
cones.
They march up to the Nexus stand and one
by one link out to the city.
Five minutes after
they're all gone, Kestryll links in and heads down to
the DISCO. After searching around in the sub levels he
puts a note on the counter and links out.
To
Grizz, Bahro fixed space/time anomaly and removed
cones. You now have only 3 sub levels. Don't know how
they did it, but everything seems to be in
order.
Psssst Professor! RW
is going to respond to boatingirl's research results,
but that's not possible yet as RW is stuck on the
surface and hasn't seen the report Boatingirl posted on
your door.
